Hello Bobcat Families!

Welcome to this week's edition of the Weekly Parent Update! If you have any first week of school pictures you would like to share, please send them my way and I will post them on our Facebook Page. Friendly Reminders

Please remember doors open for students at 8:45am. There is no adult supervision for any student dropped off before doors open.
Please label your childs lunch box. We had several go missing the first week of school and having the student's name on them is very helpful.

Early Release

Early Release Wednesday begins this week on Wednesday, 9/10. We will get out at 2:55pm that day. The rest of the day schedule remains the same as follows:

Student Arrival: 8:45am-9:05am

Breakfast Served: 8:45am-9:05am

Classes begin: 9:05am

School Ends: 2:55pm

All Smiles Community Oral Health

All Smiles Community Oral Health will be providing free dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride at Sandy Grade School during the Week of September 22nd. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth to prevent cavities and fluoride is a vitamin that is brushed on the teeth to make teeth stronger and prevent cavities. FREE Breakfast and Lunch!

Thanks to a change in requirements for the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program, the Oregon Trail School District is able to offer FREE daily breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2025-2026 school year, In addition, there is NO application process necessary.

Free applies to the first complete meal only. There will remain a charge for individual items (e.g. milk, entree only, snack items) and second meals.

Bus Transportation

Thank you all for your patience as we work through the challenges of transportation this week. Buses may continue to run late while bus drivers learn their routes and students.

For children riding the bus, bus route information is available on the district website, https://oregontrailschools.com/18384_2. Once on the website, go to “Families”, click on transportation, then “Find routes and stop times”. Please note: Bus schedules are approximate times. Plan to arrive at least 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time, and wait at least 5-10 minutes after the scheduled time in case the bus is running early or late. The buses are likely to run early or late the first couple of weeks while the drivers become familiar with routes and stops. Please be flexible and patient. Acadience Reading Assessment

We started testing our students this week. This assessment will give us important information on where your child is at in reading and how we can best support each individual.

iReady

Students will be taking the iReady computer based math and reading assessment in class. The test is administered three times a year. Please encourage your child to take their time and do their best. We use this information to reteach or enrich our students learning in math and reading.
