Weekly Parent Update

September 14, 2025

Hello Bobcat Families!

Happy Sunday! I hope you all have had a restful weekend. We had a great second week of school and we look forward to another successful week. Students are working hard on their iReady and Acadience assessments. Reading and math groups start this week where all students are being met at their level to ensure they have what they need to be successful. Here is a look at what is coming up.

All Smiles Community Oral Health

All Smiles Community Oral Health will be providing free dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride at Sandy Grade School during the Week of September 22nd. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth to prevent cavities and fluoride is a vitamin that is brushed on the teeth to make teeth stronger and prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online.  Here is the Spanish Form  haga clic en este enlace

Title 1

Sandy Grade receives federal funds for Title One programs that are part of the No Child Left Behind Act. Throughout the school year, we will continue to provide parents with important information about this law and your child’s education.

You have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher. When you request this information, the district will provide you with this information in a timely manner. You have the right to request the following information:

A. If the teacher has met state licensing requirements for the grade level and subjects in which the teacher is providing instruction.
B. If the teacher is teaching under an emergency status for which state licensing requirements have been waived.
C. The type of college degree and major of the teacher and the field of discipline for any graduate degrees and certificates.
D. If your child is receiving Title One services from paraprofessionals and, if so, his/her qualifications.
If you would like this information, please contact the school at 503-668-8065.

Medication Reminder

State law addresses the dispensing of any form of medication by school personnel. Medication means any prescription or over-the-counter medication including but not limited to vitamins, food supplements, eye, ear and nose drops, inhalants, medicated ointments or lotions, aspirin, cough drops and antacids. For school personnel to administer any medication, the parent must provide a written request and the student’s physician must give written instructions if prescription (the prescription container on prescribed medication is sufficient).

All medications must be in the original container, with parent’s special instructions and physician’s instructions. All medications must be given to office staff by an adult for safekeeping. It is unlawful for students to transport medications of any kind. This includes medication such as cough drops, eye drops, nasal sprays, etc.
