Weekly Parent Update

October 12, 2025

Hello Bobcat Families!

I hope you all enjoyed the three day weekend! I know our students are tired and it seems as though breaks always come at the most perfect times. I hope you have a great week!

Here is the latest news and information for the week ahead:

October Virtue

Each month, we have a monthly virtue that students work towards earning a reward for. The teachers will pick 2-3 students who exemplify these virtues. They will be announced at our monthly assembly and get their picture taken for the monthly virtue bulletin board to be displayed all year long!

This month’s virtue is Kindness. Staff members are on the lookout for students who are being kind to peers, teachers and all other staff members while modeling this virtue throughout the month.

Parent Teacher Conference

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

Just like last year, our parent/teacher conferences will be tied into report card time in February. More information to follow. This being said, teachers will be reaching out prior to then to discuss where your child is at and if we have any concerns.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Reminder

The last day to update your voter registration or to register before the November 4 special election is Tuesday, Oct. 14. Visit the Oregon online voter registration page to register, update your voter registration or check on your status.

Fall Testing

Bobcat families! I am so proud of each and every one of your children who worked hard on our fall assessments. We use this data to meet kids where they are at and ensure they are making growth each week. As many of you know, a goal of mine is for every grade level to be at 80% proficient by the end of the year. According to our beginning of the year Acadience data below is where we are starting this fall. We have a lot to celebrate starting the year with many students at grade level for reading. If you have concerns about your student or want to know where they are starting the year out, please reach out to our classroom teachers. They would be happy to help and let you know how to support your child at home.

Add in percentages below
Kindergarten -23% meeting
1st grade- 43% meeting
2nd grade-73% meeting
3rd grade- 61% meeting
4th grade- 58% meeting
5th grade- 61% meeting

Little Steps to Success

Your neighborhood elementary school is offering a program called “Little Steps to School Success” for you and your three, four, or five--year-old child (who is not yet enrolled in kindergarten). Your child will enjoy a special evening of stories and activities at the school. Each event is a special time for you and your preschooler only. You must accompany your preschooler, so there will be free childcare available for any siblings. These activities will take place in your child’s future kindergarten classroom and are led by teachers and staff from the school. The evening begins with a read-aloud by the kindergarten teacher, and is followed by fun activities to build skills your child will need for entering kindergarten. Your child will meet new friends who will be future classmates, meet his or her future kindergarten teacher, engage in skill-building activities that you can continue to do at home, and have fun. Each family that attends will receive a free book as well as a packet of activities to do together at home to reinforce skills.

Don’t miss out on this positive experience for your preschooler!
